I have VCR/DVD RECORDER SHARP DV-RW270S, and it supports Divx video (.divx, .avi), but when I put a CD with divX movie on it, I don't have a subtitle.
I renamed it (mymovie.sub, and mymovie.avi), but it still doesn't work.
I heard something about Xsub, and I've tried with "srt to bmp tool", I followed the instructions, but at the end, I've got a very short and small .divx file (about 30 MB's).
I don't know how to solve this, and how to watch my favorite movies on my big TV screen with that Sharp player???

Hey, I've solved this problem.
But, there is a new one.
In "srt to bmp" ...
I made a .srt file with Subtitle workshop, in Sub Rip a saved it as Philips SVCD format, in SRT to BMP I rendered .bmp file, a made .xsub file, everything like u said.
But when I mux it, i don't have a subtitle.
I says:
VBV TEST FAILED
max underflow was ..... bits
0 VBV TEST failed
1 MPEG quantization not supported
2 UN COMPRESSED CHUNK TYPE Present
Result: FAIL
????

OK, i got it!!!
Now I have mymovie.divx, and I tried it on my computer with DivX Player, and it's working.
But, when I played it on my DVD player, it says SUBTITLE OFF.
I press a button "subtitle" a couple times, but nothing happend.
I burned only mymovie.divx on normal CD - 700 MB with Nero 6.
Is that ok? or I should try something else?

There are numerous subtitle formats & you must have it in the right format for your player. That could be SRT or SUB with IDX. Few players play any sub format.

I though that .xsub is ok with any player???
I didn't record on my cd .sub, .srt or anything else,
just .divx file (muxed .avi and .xsub with "srt to bmp tool") !!!
