bad mkv subtitles?

Hey ppl i got a couple mkv files and when i rip the subtitles from them with mkvextractGUI.exe and then try to conver them from .srt to .ssa with the program srt to ssa it just says is "input file error subtitle #1"
so if anyone can help me with this that would suuure be nice thanks alot ppl!!

Why convert to ssa? Perhaps whatever you are using doesn't like UTF-8 or the file has unix line breaks which it doesn't like?

If you are converting to ssa to add hardsubs using the subtitler filter that comes with VDub, you could try using textsub (VSFilter) instead since it supports srt's.
