ok, i HAVE looked all over this site for ways to put subtitles from avi to DVD. here is a list of programs that i have tried
TMPGEnc
winAVI
avi2dvd
vso divx to dvd
and some others
i like TMPGEnc but the version that i have (2.524.63.181) dosn't have any subtitle options. is there something that i am doing wrong?
i wouldn't even mind getting the subs into the AVI than encoding the AVI to mpg, because i can do that just fine. its just the subs that i am having trouble with.

what kind of subs do you have? avi2dvd and vsodivxtodvd support srt subs.

yeah i bought divxtodvd and it never tells me when to locate the subtitle file. i thought that maybe it automatically detects it but when i was encoding it, it didn't have any subs in the preview. yeah i jsut tested it it still dosn't work :'(
also the quality of it was RLY shitty....i dunno what happened. on the 1st TV i tried it on it looked like it went to full screen, but it is susposed to be widescreen. i keep getting confused with all these tutorials, all of them tell me to do different things. it is already formatted in widescreen (16:9) and it has like 24 FPS. and i am using DivxToDvd and i need subs. heh im tearin through the 2nd 25 pack right now hehehe.

whoops i didn't know what i was writing. when i drag the AVI into the window it just shows the movie, than when i press the + sign it has the "subtitles" option. i have 1 stream in there (at least thats what it says) it is .srt file but i don't know if it is in correct form...i think i may be missing something at the top. here:

i think i am missing something, and that mey be why it is not working. could someone tell me what i am missing? i don't even knwo where to begin, i have NEVER worked with subs before.
thanks for your help. i may ask alot of questions, but once i know the answer and a good way of conducting things i remember it well and i help other people, its not like its just a 1 time thing.

that did not work in the preview either. i am almoast out of ideas completely i think i need help :'(

and on the topic of it not being widescreen... here is what it says...

All you have to do is to put your video (avi) file and your subtitle (srt) file in a same directory on your HDD.
Now open your video file in your avi player (for example BSplayer) and check if subtitles are shown and synced with video.
If everything is OK, just add video file in DivxToDVD and click Convert. Subtitle file would be automatically added.
You cann't go wrong.
If you wish to check, edit or convert a subtitle file for any reason, you could use Subtitle Workshop.

If this is what you have in the subtitle file, then your subtitles are not srt, but ssa format. You can convert it with Subtitle Workshop as already suggested. Seems to me you can not see the files extensions. Try to disable "Hide file extension for known files" in your folder options.
