I received a DVD from a seller on Ebay - which had been converted from VHS.

In my JVC X33 DVD player, it pauses every 1m 39s?!!!

It plays on my computer, and it also plays on my mates DVD player.

It cant be media as I copied it on my PC to another disk which also had the same annoying pausing every 1m 39s!

Any ideas? Fairly new to DVD stuff, tried searching around but found nothing like this.

Comments appreciated!

Cheap media is the culprit for sure.

I'm using Datawrites which work when I use them to backup my DVDs?
Cant be media? Can it?

Sounds like the DVD you got from Ebay doesn't work correctly. I would contact the seller and tell him what has happened and see what they say.

From that it sounds fairly obvious to me - it is the combination of the media with your DVD player lightbulb.gif

If the disc you bought skips in your player, but plays perfectly in a mate's player, then it's something to do with your player, no ?

There's been quite a few people here lay down top dollar for JVC DVD players, only for them to be very picky. Often a cheap n nasty DVD player will play everything on most brands of media.

A suggestion? Open this disc up in dvd shrink or something that will allow viewing the way the disc is authored.
Maybe a title change is occuring at your 1m39s?

Sorry gents, been on hols. Thanx for the responses.

Hmm. Like I said I copied it to another disc using Decrypter/Shrink - onto media which does play in my DVD player?

Interestingly there seem to be 2 titles which are the same length and time when viewing it in Shrink.

I guess its a combination of media and film, and dvd player then.
Strange.

My media is cheapo stuff, Datasafe etc, which up until now I've not had
a problem with.

Could it be something with the way the DVD has been encoded?
