I had this DVD for about 6 months now playing everything I trew at it, without any problems. The other day I was watching Hidalgo ( DVD) and after about an hour into the movie the DVD player froze. Now the only thing the player would read and play is CDs BUT not DVDs. The only thing happening when I put a DVD in is the LCD would display "Loading" and then "No Disc". I tried about 10 regular DVDs, and also AVI, MPEG data DVDs. It would play the AVIs, MPEGS...etc, burned as data on a CD but not on a DVD. Any ideas how to fix this are greatly appreciated...tks[/b]

I would call Philips but I would also try unplugging it for a while and see if it resets. I might also be tempted to reflash the firmware. Sounds like it is fried unless Philips has some reset available.

I've read somewhere that DVD players have 2 lasers: one for DVDs and the other for CDs
May be your player's DVD laser is dirty or damaged.

Javierperezch is correct. Almost certainly your player has a problem with the DVD laser. It would probably cost more to repair than to just buy a new one sad.gif
