My Go Video DVR4400 just died and I'm in the market for a new player. I've pored through the compatibilty lists, but nothing stands out as the "perfect" player for me. So I thought I'd list my criteria and see if anyone has experience they'd like to share:

Must have:

DVD/DVD+R
SVCD/VCD
Less than $150

Like to have:
DVD-R/DVD-RW/DVD+RW

On top of that, reliability and an intuitive remote sure would be nice! I'm sooooo sick of replacing electronics after a year or two. realmad.gif Suggestions?

Panasonic and Pioneer make nice sacd, etal player.

There are many complaints about sony's remote.

Get the cheapest as there are and have been very
rapid technological advances to DVD's.

BTW I know the Pioneers also plays ADVD.
I don't know about Divx and Panasonics

FYI DON'T use digital 5.1 or DTS, sacd output is analog 5.1

I emailed Panasonic about Divx as my non-mp4 Rv32 rocks! Sadly, they will not be supporting DivX with new machines or firmware upgrades. sad.gif

Thanks for the responses. My GoVideo suddenly decided to work again, so I get to put off this decision at least a little while longer. cool.gif

My advice remains the same, even after Blue-ray and/or HDVD formats go on sale.

What do you mean by this? Do you mean don't try to use digital for sacd or dvd-audio playback, or for just plain dvds...I use the optical out on mine and the sound is spectacular. I don't own any sacd's or dvd-a's just yet so I haven't a need to connect analog.
