This new portable without screen is being sold by many sellers on Ebay, and Newegg.com is also selling it. (no commercial interest here) Am I gonna hafta be the guinea pig who tries it or is someone else here? It claims to play everything. Region-free, VCD,SVCD,CD+G,MP3, all recordables/rewriteables, I think they even mention SACD. Looks like another cheapo Chinese plastic case.
RJ tech claims their Divx decoder is better than the LiteOn 2001.
I have a COBY DV-707, another portable without screen, it's a good player for everything but no Divx. If the RJ tech is as good plus Divx.....
For about $100 it looks tempting. If I'm the first I'll post a review here.

hey...that looks pretty good! Been looking for an "all-in-one" player, and for the price, seems pretty good! Heck, I spent almost $300 on my first (and still only) player...and all it plays is DVDs and CDs

Maybe I'll give this one a try.

Finally got one to try out. (RJTech 250PDVX) I posted a review in the DVD Players section here (not the forum). It plays just about everything except for China standard SVCD's. I've seen this in another player that certainly has the hardware capability, so I think it's a licensing thing. There might even be a hack to enable it someday. It plays VCD's, mpeg files at high bitrates etc. I think it's well worth the price, but built cheap like other cheap brands.
There are a lot of them being auctioned off on ebay, but online retailers like newegg.com or myvirtualzone.com have better prices. I haven't seen any in stores - maybe because it's region free out of the box. That and divx playback are not features that the movie studios are crazy about consumers having.
One nice little feature - it correctly formats even raw mpeg files in PAL format for NTSC screens. It's the first player I've seen to do that for raw mpeg files, not just DVD's.
