S-VHS Mitsubishi VCRs

Anyone know if Mitsubishi makes any S-VHS VCRs that have both DNR and a TBC built in? I am trying to copy old VHS tapes in EP and need a stable signal going into a Pioneer DVR-510H. Anyone know if Mitsubishi work well for old VHS media?

I know that JVC higher end models have both DNR and TBC. However, I've heard that they are not built very rugged.

I have a Mitsubishi s-vhs model HS-U748 and all I can tell you is that it works a whole bunch better than the very expensive JVC VCR I also have. Don't have a clue if it has DNR or a TBC (I use an external TBC).

The 748 has DNR but probably no TBC. I also have a couple of external TBCs that I could use with a Mitsubishi. I may end up buying one in the 700 series and use the external TBC.

If your primary interest is transferring old VHS tapes then you want a TBC. I don't believe Mitsubishi ever made a vcr with a TBC builtin. I have both JVC and Mitsubishi S-vhs vcr's. I would look on ebay for a used JVC 9500U,it's from the first year they introed S-vhsET and built in TBC. They are better built than the models that followed. I'm not saying that they are well built,just better then what followed. After they moved production to China quality went in the dumper. I have 3 9500's and their all still going strong.

Anyone have any experience with the JVC 7000 series S-VHS (HR-S7500,7600,7900)? They have DNR and TBC but I'm not sure if they were built in China. They are older machines, so maybe they are built better than the 9000 series.

Wulf, I recognize your Avatar. The episode where Sylvester thought he killed the Tweety bird and was up all night drinking cups of coffee while his mouth was full of cigarettes because of a guilty conscience.

They actually edit that part out of the cartoon now for not being politcally correct.

I have a 7600 and a 9600, and they are virtually identical. I have looked inside both of them, and the transports also look identical. I know that the 9600 has a 4MB DNR/TBC system while the 7600 is a 2MB, but I have never been able to see the difference. My 9600 has some tape handling problems, and I have seen several reviews complaining about the same thing. My 7600 has no such issues. I got it off of EBay for $40 Buy It Now! The seller must not have known what it was worth.

Wow. $40 for a 7600. They're usually $100 to $200.

I've heard the newer JVCs have problems with the eject/load mechanisms. They apparently are using cheap plastic gears that wear out quickly.
