Here's what I'd like to do:
Connect a DV cam to a pc/laptop via a firewire cable and display the recorded footage on a monitor with a time delay of about 10 seconds (variable if possible).
My thinking is that the computer would only have to store say a minutes worth of footage (as a buffer) in order to play it back with a short delay.
Is this possible and if so, is there software available to do it?

There must be a way to do it with software. If you can capture footage from the cam in real time then surely you can get the pc/laptop to play it back ten seconds later(??)

I think Avid Xpress Pro has that feature. You might want to check that out.

it doesnt even have real time preview untill it has rendered the file or read it all -- unless you see something i dont ..
