How many times can I record over a DV tape before I should replace it?

I get problems after about 3 uses. Now never use more than twice.

What kind of problems do you get - glitches, dropouts, etc or just a general decrease in picture quality? I transfer my DV tapes to DVD and then just use the tapes over and over again. I haven't noticed any problems on tapes I've recorded over many times - but if the picture quality decreases gradually with each use I may just not be noticing it.

Three uses? That seems awfully low.

I have used the same DV tape maybe 60 times and haven't noticed any difference in quality since the first time I used it.
