What do you want to do... edit or just convert ... what is the price range ... for cheap look at AVERMEDIA .. for expensive look at MATROX and CANOPUS.

For easy, look at standalone dvd recorder.

Some new ATI cards are also PAL (not sure if they do both) and I'm a big fan of ATI cards.

The datavideo dac 100 is a good choice allowing capture in both pal and ntsc. It captures to a firewire port and you'll need software to capture, convert to mpg file and author for dvd as the dac 100 does not come with any software. I have it and have had nothing but great looking dvd's come from it's captures. You can also try looking here, it helped me a lot to find the capture device I was looking for.

I saw in the link this card http://www.dvdrhelp.com/capturecards.php?CaptureCardRead=Canopus% ... #comments, it has very high rating and very good comments.
is this card works with pal?
is this card will be good for my uses?
(capture from VHS and from DVD in good quality).
thanks

The capture device you are asking about is the Canopus ADVC-100 which is an excellent choice as it is easy to use and will give you excellent quality.

It works with NTSC as well as PAL.

It connects to any WINDOWS or MAC comuter using the FIREWIRE connection (also known as IEEE 1394 as well as SONY i.link)
