I'm trying to fix my friends notebook for her, but the damn thing wont stay on.

It will start up, and run for a couple of minutes usually pretty good, and then just shut off. The battery is full, and its plugged into the wall.

So I figured it might be something wrong with the OS, so I was going to reinstall windows, and reformat the HD.

Now when I go into the windows set up with the disk, it will get through most of the steps but then just shut off...

Is this a hard drive problem? Does anyone have any ideas.

If you need more info I will post it.

Thanks

try running it on battery alone, then try running on AC alone.. see if its something related to AC power or battery power.

otherwise your best bet would be to change the charger board.

I dont think its a harddrive problem because i had the same thing happen to a laptop i got from school, i took it in and they removed my harddrive and placed it in another laptop and it turned on and till this day it works, as for my orginal laptop i dont know, it just wouldnt stay on, maybe it could be something with the connections you know maybe it wasnt making any contact with the power supply, but i dont know. I do know that it probably has nothing to do with the harddrive, more than likely thats working fine. sorry i wish i give you some help, but i hope what i said points you in the right direction.
