I have PowerDVD installed as my mpeg2 codec, and an SVCD encoded by tmpgenc. I am trying to author it with VCDEasy 1.1.5.2...and after 'loading' the svcd in the chapter menu, I am not able to press any control button without the program crashing.

I can press only "Play"...but no video shows up, only audio, and if I press stop, or ffword/rewind the program crashes immediately with no warning or message. I can load the same mpeg2/svcd in powerdvd and it plays fine, has anyone else had this problem? (I've tried the latest version of vcde, but it has same problem).

magicmycote,
Finally, someone with the identical problem that I have.
Press play, audio only, ffw or rew, VCDeasy dissappears.
The pause button works.

Unfortunatley I have never found a solution to fix it.
I tried going back to previous versions but no good.

I get the same thing if I use the "Generate Pictures" option when you right click the chapter list on the rhs of the chapters page.

Please let me know if you find a fix.

I've had this problem reoccur and finally worked out what is the cause.
VBR mpeg2 files.
They cause Windows Media Player to have an error if you try to use the slider on control keys.

This would be the same reason that VCDeasy crashes when VBR files are loaded into its media player.
