I use transcode with mjpeg tools as a plugin. I use a script created by http://dvdripping-guid.berlios.de/Divx-to-VCD_en.html. Its quite nice and usually works. However, when I executed the cvcd script, I got the following (its the last two lines that worry me - last time I ignored this, the sound gradually distanced the video until it was unwatchable!)
Any thoughts on how to set the audio and video to the same rate?

normally i believe framerate for vcd and svcd is 25000 i suppose your movie doesnot have that framerate .

that is not a problem if you live in a PAL area most dvd players will play the movie ,

it is a normal message i have all the time when i convert a movie to svcd , 25000 is expected but sometimes the source is 29000 or 23,xxx .Then that message will always show up .

i gues you have to be sure that your dvd player is able to play such a "cvcd movie " ...........maybe it is not ........

At this url: http://www.cornelinux.de/linux/kavi2svcd/index-english.html
there is a gui front end to transcode. This is what I've been using and have never had a problem with creating vcds ethier in ntsc or pal. My dvd/cd player dosn't care which format ntsc or pal so I always burn the same type as the orignal video clip. smile.gif

I'll check the settings on my dvd player. Apart from that I don't know - maybe its just a coinicidence that I got that message and the video and audio were out of sync.

I'll try the transcode front end - but it may take awhile. I use Gentoo linux - it builds everything from source code (need kde yet).

Out of curiosity, I did tcprobe on my Doctor Who avi files and came up with the following:

All files that had a frame rate OTHER than exactly 29.971 would give me this message:

++ WARN: [mpeg2enc] Specified display frame-rate 25.00 will over-ride
++ WARN: [mpeg2enc] (different!) frame-rate 29.97 of the input stream

This one had a frame rate of of 29.970 (instead of 29.971). Others with this frame rate give me the same warn message. One has a frame rate of 30.003. Here the audio and video sync is very poor. All the Doctor Who avis with 29.971 turn out with perfect audio/video sync.
Thoughts?

Thanks

Richard
