I tried all the keys on the remote, nothing would trigger the action setup for the default key in VCDEasy. Do I need to identify the key in VCDEasy? The actions setup for Previous, Next and Return keys all worked fine. Do all players have a default key?

On DVD players "default" is almost always mapped to Play. This is dependent on the player, it has nothing to do with VCDEasy (unless you've set up the PBC incorrectly). Have you checked the comments on your player in the DVD Players list to see if anybody else said something about the default key?

Thanks to all who replied.

It turns out that apparently APEX did not implement the VCD 2.0 specification correctly in my APEX 3201 player. I found a discussion group at another site where there was numerous correspondance about VCD menu problems with the APEX 3201. To verify that it was my player I played several of the menus on a Samsung DVD player with no problems.
