Specks or small discolorations on the burned surface of their dvd media. I've noticed them on both dvd-r and +r media. The only reason I noticed them is I had a couple of backed-up movies freeze or pixelate during play back, and I took a long hard look at the burned surface for scratches. I believe that all my media have them to some extent, some worse than other, and I can't really tell if it's causing the errors on playback.

I do have a few disks with these small specks that play fine all the way through, so who know. I find most of these anomalies closer to the outer edge of the disk.

Is this a normal occurance on dvd media, because I've never seen them on cd-r media.

I do this as best I can. What do you recommend to wipe down the blank with? I never really worried about this with cd-r before, and I haven't burned a cd coaster in about 2 years. Why is this so much more important with dvd's?
