Hello,
I wanted to add a brand of DVD media to the DVD Media List.
I downloaded ADVDInfo and ran it but it crashes instantly.
I'm running Windows XP. Compatibility problem?
I have a Sony DRU500A DVD Recorder, Maybe it doesn't support
that yet? Does it need a DVD recorder or will it work on a DVD-ROM drive?
Thanks.

You'll want to put the EXE file in the system32 directory under the Windows directory. Then you can make a shortcut to it. Try that and see how it goes.

Tried it... Same problem. Maybe it just doesn't run in Windows XP?
Tried the program on a Windows 2000 machine and it runs fine.
Unfortunately that machine only has a DVD-ROM drive and it won't
give the disk mfg id...
Oh well...

Be sure to have an ASPI layer installed or forced. Works on my Win XP.

It doesn't work on my WinXP (Home Edition) too.
When I run ASPI Check this is result.
ASPI32.SYS --> 4.71.2
WOWPOST.EXE --> 4.6(1021)
WINASPI.DLL --> 4.6(1021)
WNASPI32.DLL --> 4.71.2
Anything between 06 and C0 doesn't work
OK.... I just found somewhere that this problem might be media related issue. It should work on -R/-RW but not on +R/+RW. Am I right ?

Can anybody confirm if ADVDInfo doen't work for +R or +RW media. And if this is realy true... How do you identify + disks ? Is there another tool for this ?

Partial solution... I use Nero CD Speed 1.02 to get manufacturare name and code from +R and +RW disks for now.
