I'm sorry but, you are not very clear confused.gif

what do you want ?

if you want to convert an AVI with AC3 track in SVCD with MPEG Multichannel:
you can do that with hypercube 2.0b, simply open the AVI in this
software and hit Transcode button.

if you want to convert an AVI with Stereo track (or dolby stereo)
in SVCD with MPEG Multichannel:
this is impossible. for instance... wink.gif

if you want to convert an AVI with Stereo track (or dolby stereo)
in SVCD with Stereo track (or dolby stereo):
Use Tmpgenc. There is a lot of tutorial around here.

you are on the wrong way. sad.gif

if you have not 5.1 track (in AC3) of your movie, you don't have to use
hypercube. You cannot produce 5.1 SVCD.

your AVI is in stereo, your SVCD will be in stereo.

I want to be able to use a multichannel mpeg in one of the video slide show programs such as Ulead DVD PictureShow. It says it can find .mpa files but they wont import. I get an error. DO you have to something to get them to a proper format or something? Is it a bitrate thing?

Ulead seems not to be able to load Multichannel MPEG. cry.gif
Try to rename your MP2 in MPA...
this is not a bitrate thing...

Looks like just renaming the file from .mp2 to .mpa and Ulead recognizes it an lets you load it into the project. This is great.

How do you tell if you have a multi channel mpeg if you dont have a system to test it on? Is there a program which you can load it up in and see all the channel info?

try http://www.licensing.philips.com/ordering/soft/documents343.html
download MPEG audio tools, you will find the famous Pub_enc.exe
there is another tool named pub_dec.exe, may be you can test
you streams with it... (I never try it)

i don't think anyone has had this problem yet.

hypercube...

i've followed your guide ( http://hypercubemx.free.fr/html/how_to_make_5_1__svcd.html )to the letter. i demuxed the audio and video stream from the *.avi file. i used your Hypercube Transcoder for the *.ac3. i converted the video to mpeg with TMPGEnc with a max bitrate of 2520, min bitrate of 300, and average bitrate of 2121. and i made the file size to 100% of the total disk. when it was finished, i muxed the *.mp2 and the *.mpg together. i loaded it up in Nero, turned off Standard Compliance. and "Try to fit to disk size 80 min". the file exceeded the 700MB marker on the bottom meter of Nero. tried burning it, and it says the file won't fit.

so i tried the TMPGEnc wizard again. i chose the *.avi with no audio. then i loaded the *.mp2. at the end, the average bitrate came out to 2121 again. so i know i converted the movie right.

oh, one more thing, i chose "2-pass VBR" since i'm such a fan of it and i haven't had any problems burning VBR-encoded movies yet. does that have anything to do with my problem? CBR gives the same average bitrate. but if i have to use CBR, then i'll use it.

size pb is not related to hypercube transcoder.
your problem is simple: your mpg file is too long.
change your VBR settings to get smaller file.

use a good bitrate calculator and select 384 kbps in audio section.
(this is the bitrate of hypercube transcoder output streams)

with nero,
you can burn 800meg of mpeg on 80min CD,
900meg on 90min, 740meg on 74Min and
990meg on 99min.

(this is the values I use everday).

note: you can multiplex audio CBR stream with
video stream VBR without any problems.

but would CBR give me the same problem as i had with VBR? if it doesn't then i'll just stick to CBR to keep the bitrate the same. if i stay with VBR, then i'd have a lower bitrate.

thanks.

yes of course. you must use a bitrate calculator.

with CBR, final size can be perfeclty calculated.
with VBR, it is a prediction.

you should use this bitrate calculator with CBR:
http://www.tomzavodny.cz/program/bitcalc/index_en.php

you should use this bitrate calculator with VBR:

I want to do this, but is it also possible to add subtitles? So you convert into SVCD multichannel with subtitles

yes, this is possible. Hypercube transcoder 2.0b is nothing mode than a
AC3 to AUDIO MPEG Multichannel. it produce MP2 file which can be
multiplexed in a same way as normal MP2 file with tmpgenc.

Any idea's how to get the subtitles in the movie? I've tried using VirtualDub. Add filter and frameserve to TMPGenc, but this won't work. I constantly get the message in TMPGenc; could not open movie.vdr or file unsupported. I've read in this forum that you must give DirectShow Multimedia File Reader a higher priority. I've tried, but still no succes. Isn't there an other programme that can do the trick? Or is there something that I'm doing wrong?

uh ?
the URL of 2.0b2 is valid, I tried it.
you have a 404 ?

arf,arf,arf... wink.gif
you can expect an issue with the 3.0 release.
Hypercube Transcoder 3 should be able to use DirectX Filters
(including DMO Filters) as input. ieek.gif

do you mean that you can decode DTS into multichannel wav ?
how ?!

did you test my Multichannel wav support ? is it working for you ?
