Could somebody explain the difference between dvd-r and dvd+r?
Which is better? Why?

Maybe this will help. It covers the basics.

At the moment, the most important difference to ME is the media cost. DVD-R can be acquired for <$1 if you shop hard and don't mind using the generic media. DVD+R are still around the $3 range last time I checked.
