I used the Newbie DVD2DVD-R Guide from Vcdhelp, and i ripped the movie exactly the way they said with SmartRipper, but now im lost. sad.gif
They said to leave SmartRipper on "movie" setting and go into settings and make sure the IFO files are clicked and max file size is set to 9000. Then to click the stream processing tab and enable it. Next to only check 1 of the video and 1 of the audio streams. Then to highlight both the video and audio and check them both to demux in an extra file.
Finally, to hit start and let it rip. They said in the end i should have a bunch of files in my folder(I had 13) and that the only 2 important ones were the m2v and ac3 files. Also to rename both the name of my movie for future reference.

This is the only guide i've seen so far that talks about a m2v and ac3 file. Every other guide and mostly everyone in here that is doing what im doing talks about VOB files and VIDEO_TS files???

So what am i doing wrong here? All i want is the video and audio from this movie which seems to be the large m2v and ac3, so was this guide correct or not? SmartRipper seems to be more basic for me and straight foward. I tried DVD Decrypter and didn't care for it too much. Maybe it's just because im really new to this. It just seems easier to rip the video and audio i want out with SmartRipper. confused.gif

Hi
I assume the other files you have are mostly vob files???
You need all the files while you encode the movie.
I assume that is your next stage. In TMPGEnc you enter the m2v and ac3 files into the wizard then encode to whatever template u are looking for. Once done you will have you movie and will then be able to delete all those files.

I am not expert in this but this may help if I understand your thread properly.

I just read something somewhere else that says i would have to re-encode the m2v file and turn the ac3 into a wav file? They also said it could take 24 hours? ohmy.gif

Isn't there an easier way>? I don't want to re-encode, i just want to burn the video and audio of the movie with no extras! sick.gif

Hey Fozzee, i just saw your post as i posted mine. laugh.gif
Yea, i just saw the same thing. But like i was saying above, all i want are the video and audio files of the movie. I don't want to re-encode anything. I calculated both the m2v and ac3 files and they came out to like 3.5gb. So they should easily fit on 1 disk.

Is there a way to just rip the video and audio as a VOB or VIDEO_TS or something? Grrrrr im so new it pisses me off!! realmad.gif lol

If you are trying to backup a DVD to a blank DVD read these guides I dont back up to DVD just SVCD and VCD. One of them looks like you dont have to re-encode.
Look down the list to DVD to DVD guides.

At this point, if the two files will fit on a DVD-R, just import them to your authoring software(Spruceup)& compile the movie. Then burn the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS files that the authoring software created as a data disc.

If the m2v & ac3 files are too large to fit on a DVD-R, use rempeg2 to resize them to a smaller before authoring.
