i just got a pioneer 434 off ebay, but the seller didnt ship it with a remote. before i return it, i wanted to know if there are any suitable replacements for the factory remote. I know that with pioneers, alot of crucial functions are on the remote and don't know if a universal will allow me to do everything. Anyone have any experience in using substitutes for the factory remote? or a cheap place to get the factory one, because the places ive looked are too $$. thanks.

Hello. I use an RCA universal remote with my Pioneer C302D. It works great with all of the functions except one...disk change. My player is a 3 disk, but the remote was made for DVD players that only use one disk. Otherwise, everything else works well. It also replaces my VCR and TV remote. I think I paid between $15 and $20 for it. Hope that helps.

Mine does. It has a menu button, the four directional buttons, an enter button, and then the buttons for the VCR work for the DVD player when you select to control it. Mine is actually a Zenith, not an RCA as I posted before. Sorry about that. It is the Learning Remote ZEN760.

I got a pioneer without the remote. Took my universal remote to good guys and learned all the buttons on to the universal remote from one of their demo units. works just fine.
