  1. ok i followed exactly the guide on how to add permament subtitles using virtual dub and tmpge, but when i get to the tmpge part, it would couldnt open the file. i also noticed that the file that i save in virtual dub was just a file, not a .vdr file. so i renamed it to *.vdr and it still didnt work. can someone please help me?

  2. I don't you try to add subtitles with another aplication like the submux that is included in the vobsub package(http://vobsub.edensrising.com/).

Which guide are you using? When you go to frameserve from VirtualDub you need to type in the full file name (whatever.vdr) and leave the framesever running, start TMPGEnc and load whatever.vdr (you might have to change the "Files of Type" drop down to "All files" in order to see it) then setup TMPGEnc as you normally would. You can't close the frameserver or rename or move the file once you've started.
