I've just descovered that all DV cameras sold in europe are 'neutered' so that they cannot record back to dv tape. i presume this is done within the software of the camera itself, so does any1 know of a way around this? i have a JVC DVL150EK.

From what I understand, not all of the DV cameras sold in Europe are "neutered". I have heard that the higher up cameras still retain the analog inputs. I think its because of some tax. But from what I have read at least the sony pc110 and pc9 had inputs that were functional. If your talking about the firewire back to the camera then i'm not really sure, but I would think that would be functional.
I thought it was hardware thing but I guess not.....

http://www.LYNXDV.Com has shareware that will allow you to record back onto your camera
well the instructions that came with my camera tell you how to record back via firewire, but the vegas video capture says the device is non-recordable... ie it doesn't work. thanx 4 the link to lynxdv, that looks interesting, i'll have to give it a go, but i dont have the cable. still thats not a bad price....
