hI,

I recently purchased this DVD player and I was wondering if this one, or most DVD players will play a DVD-R or +R right out of the box, or do you have to upgrade the firmware and do a region hack on it. I have some I want to try to get to work, but they won't play. I also have an older DVD player that won't support DVD copies. I could just take it back to Wal Mart, but I wanted to get any opinions first.

First of all you should check the list of DVD Players on the left. But to answer your question, yes it does support (re)recordable DVD's as well as almost any other format. I own one and it's a great player.
