  1. Hello... Here is my problem:
It seems that I cannot control the size of the fonts for the subtitles I try to place in an MPEG. Let me ellaborate:
    - I rip a DVD and easily encode its content- thus I have an MPEG file
    - I use virtuaDub with the subtitling filter and the script (the script by the way is timed and ready to go it is in .ssa format)
    - I use the TempEnc when Virtuadub invokes the frameserver.

The end result is an MPEG with lesser quality than the original encoded MPEG and the fonts are tiny and illegible. Now please keep in mind that I was able through Sub Station Alpha to manipulate the font size but with no success. I went to font 74pt from and original 20 pt but nothing ever happened. If anyone out there has faced this issue I would very be appreciative to hear how he/she has overcome it.

    Thanks
    Ziad

p.s Is there a way to avoid double encoding (i.e. the initial encode and the secondary one due to the script)? it would realy improve the quality of my movie...

  2. You can encode with subs in one.

You can use for example use DVD2AVI to make a reference file of the DVD .vobs. Then use VFapi to make a reference file of the DVD2AVI project file. Load this .avi reference file into VDub, use subtitler filter and framserve to TMPGenc. Changing the fontsize in the .ssa file should work. You can open it in Notpad and edit the size of the font in the line(example) 'Style: Default,tahoma,24,16777215,16777215,16777215,0,0,0,2,3,2,30,30,30'

    Good luck
