errors with virtualdub and mpg files

ive loaded up a few mpeg files that play perfectly well in windows media player.... but just to check the vid strem for errors i loaded them in v-dub and it does this mpeg import filter thing, and when it does that, i get this error : filter error unexpected end of file

whats this mean?!?!
i get it on several mpeg files wich play fine in my media player

regular virtuladub will not open mpeg-2 files, thats when it gives an error something like 'packet syncronization error'. I also believe (but could be wrong on this) that the check video stream fo errors is only appropriate to avi files.

Anyway, if you do want to open mpeg-2 files in vdub there is a moddified version that can do this (virtualdub_mod I think its called) available from the tools section.

but i really dont think the files are mpeg-2

but i have used v-dub to check errors on mpegs files, and it worked....its just on like 2 or 3 vids i have
