I have bought a Dell with a NEC DVD+RW burner. I use Philips DVD+RW and I can play my home-made DVD's on my Pioneer 525.
But when I have re-written my DVD+RW about 6 times my Pioneer cannot read them anymore . Also it gets more dificult to re-write them, I now have 3 DVD-RW's which I cannot erase anymore.
I use Sonic MyDVD and Easy CD creator 5.3 (comes with the Dell)
Does somebody knows what I do wrong or does somebody has the same experience?

I have a couple of DVD-RWs that don't use too much (they are X1) but must have re-written them more than 15~20 times each.

I also have 3 DVD+RWs that use most (they are X2.4) and must have erased and re-written them more than 50~60 times except for the first one (a SONY) that must have been re-written more than 100 times so far.

No problem with the DVD-ROM or the DVD player. Have been using Nero all along.

If you have problems with the disk, perhaps it might help to perform a full erase once.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

I have the same burner (DELL/NEC OEM) as you but have had no problems at all. I susplect your media is to blame.

One thing i discovered was that you don't have to erase DVD+RW media - it is a random access type of media an so behaves just like RAM. If the disk is full then the next burn will just overwrite the current data. However not all burning software is up to speed on this feature... i use GEAR 6.03 which is. This saves a LOT of time as i used to take me 30mins to erase....

I never understood why people use Easy CD Creator.

Use RecordNow, Nero, CloneDVD, IMGTools, Prassi or whatever for erarising AND burning
