Hi all!
I encoded a really very good looking movie with DivX4.01 @576x448, but it has some -I think- interlacing problems.
I'm new to video encoding at all.
In the video there are not very good looking edges especially when the camera-position is moving..
I think that's because I have to use a deinterlacing filter, right?
So I used these filters:
0 transform
rezise (precise bilinear - because I thought it's more good looking when reducing resolution from 702xxxx to 576x44
and.. deinterlace-area based v.1.2 (tresh 30, edge 20, blend)
Are there some better filters?
I don't want to get an expert in video encoding and do not want to spend a whole day because of finding the correct filters for EACH film I convert new again, but maybe you have an advice for me on which filters to use for getting a better deinterlacing?
Woud be very very appreciated) and very nice!
Thnx a lot for reading through this!
Bye!

Can't anyone help me out please?
I think I would deinterlace as the FIRST filter. The built-in deinterlacer that comes with VirtualDub seems to be the fastest, but there are others which only operate on the interlaced areas which may result in a sharper picture.
Someone should do a comparison of the various deinterlacing methods for VirtualDub and TMPGenc (in case one is frameserving directly)
Thnx for your reply!
I will try to use it as my first filter now..
I'm talking about those ugly hard horizontal lines in the picture.. they didn't appear with DivX3.11!
I'm directly frameserving..
Thnx.
