    Hi guys,

Sonic Foundry will soon (february) release DVD Architect .
You can download a beta copy here :

    http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step2.asp?DID=433

Just as I did with Ulead DVD Workshop, I now propose to have a thread here on the DVD Authoring forum, where we can share tips and tricks about this pretty new authoring software.

Download it, experiment and bring in your opinions regarding it's pros and cons when compared to Ulead DVD Workshop.

And BTW, I have heard that Ulead plan's to release a new version of DVD Workshop by the end of this month.

thanks, but this is already reported in the news section ...

also be aware that DVDA can only compile and burn the sample file you can download seperate so its a little early for tips and tricks ...

strenths - great menu creation (prob the best there is) , intergration with vegas, imports markers as chapters, ac3 5:1 support , re-encodes non compliant source files (even non mpeg files) but can be turned off.

weakness - no subtitle support, no second lang. or two audio tracks , no playlist (though this may be comming)

designed to compete w/ REELDVD and Apple dvd creator.

    Hi BJ_M ,

    You said :

I am aware that, with the Beta version, you can only compile and burn the sample file which can be downloaded at Sonic's web site.
Would be interesting if many of us could download and test burning on different systems and DVD burners.
Anyway, my proposal for Tips and Tricks is directed ( at this stage ) to the design features of DVD Architect. And we don't have to wait for the final version to be released in order to exchange ideas about that, since it won't probably be changed.

How would you compare it to Ulead DVD Workshop ?

BTW : nice to see someone from Toronto, Canada . I am from Rio, Brazil, but lived in Toronto from 1969 to 1971.

  4. I dont like the fact that it doesn't import mpeg1.
But it does have nice menu ability.

With those glaring weaknesses, it cannot compete with Sonic's ReelDVD and would be more in the league of Sonic's DVDIt! PE or Ulead's DVDWorkshop.
