Why won't some media work on some burners? Will these work?

I found some great deals for DVD-R Disks, but am very hesitant, since I'm not sure if the burner will support it. I'm also looking for a good burner. I really like the Pioneer A04, but it's too expensive.

I was wondering, is this any good?:

What Under $250 drive would you recommend? I want a drive that supports the media I posted.

ESbuycom sells the Pioneer 04 for $265.00,that's about the bottom pricewise for DVD burners. AllmediaOutlet sells Princo DVD-R for $0.75 in lots of 50. I find the combo of the Pioneer 04 and Princo disks works very well.
