Apparently they think DVDxcopy is a "digital crowbar" to break into their houses.

They are upset that the company sells the software at stores.

    Here we go again.

I have renovated my house over the last couple of years and own a crowbar. Does that make me a burgler? I think not.

Are we allowed to make backups of the CD's & DVD's we have purchased with our hard earned cash or not? I think so, as long as its for personal use.

Now creating software to crack the copy protection on DVD's is another matter. This creates a chicken and egg type situation. You are not allowed to make software that hacks the copy protection, you are allowed to backup your disks for personal use.

  3. I believe that these technological impediments to copy media I own shouldn't exist either, but I think 321 studios is up the proverbial creek without a paddle. DVDXCOPY does what basically the DMCA forbids you from doing - i.e., creating AND selling a device that overcomes a digital copy protection. If they win, it basically means that the DMCA is completely meaningless.

In the current pro-copyright protection environment, I cannot see how it has any chance of surviving this.
