  1. Hey guys...

Just bought me a cheap but supposedly versatile DVD-player: a Centrum Gemini 200. Connected it via SCART to my brand spanking new 28" Sony 16:9, and selected "RGB" as my output mode. The picture is very crisp, but absolutely crimson. All in the picture that is supposed to be black is burgundy on my kit. Seems the color balance is way off. What pisses me off is that the manual says that you can adjust color balance and stuff like that, only not how you do it. Do you think my player may be a lemon, or is it normally possible to adjust these things? I'm a bit of a newb...

The colors are normal if I switch to YUV mode for instance, but then the image isn't as crisp. It would be great if someone could give me a hint as to what might be up. I want to watch Dr Strangelove in black and white -- not pink and, well, pink.

    Cheers,

    Rizla

Does your TV set work correctly with other RGB inputs? Does the player work correctly on other TV sets?

If you can confirm it's the player's fault, take it back to the store, and tell them you want your money back.

  4. Okay, some new info... Just tried the DVD-player on my small 14" Grundig, and RGB output works fine. Hmm... I'm not overly excited since this suggests that my new SONY tv is the problem.

Could the fact that the SONY is a 100 Hz have anything to do with it? (I'm grasping for anything here...) If you know something that I don't, please share!

I'm not thrilled at the prospect of mailing a 28" tv set across Sweden to have it checked out (I bought it over the net) but I guess in that case I've learned something. Growing is so important.

Grateful for any help, hints, or house remedies!

    Thanks,

    rizla
