Hi, i have a program from my HD to burn to a DVD-R. However the program does not meet ISO standards (file depth and length) if I remane the files etc, the DVD will not run the program because the files were changed. there is options called relax ISO restrictions, however if I enable them will the DVD-R work meaning it will be readable or not? will it work? also what is DVD UDF what would happen if I burn to that option, or if I choose UDF/ISO, what are the consequenses? I've heard some options would make the DVD unreadable.
I couldn't find a tutorial which explains when to choose an specific options (UDF,ISO,UDF/ISO) and suboptions (relax ISO options: allow pathdepths more than 8 chars, allow more than 255 characters in path) and when you shouldn't choose an option and why.
I have seen also in DVD video to DVD-R tutorials that it says to choose DVD UDF/ISO, my quetion there is why? and will a DVD video (DVD-R) work if one chooses ISO or UDF instead? why and why not?
If anyone can explain me how to fix my problem, let me know. A tutorial on these options do and don'ts would be great too. An explanation of which option or options to choose when burning a DVD video (DVD-R) would be appretiated also.
Thank you for you time and help,
Jacob.

I use UDF for DVD creation and also for file back-ups where I have a large MPG file to save. UDF is what your player will read and also your DVD ROM in your PC will read it so as far as I am concerned UDF covers all eventualities.
It doesn't mean I'm right though !!
Same here, when I started NERO had no option for DVD-Video so I was told to use UDF/ISO and I always have. Since I've never had a problem with it I keep using it and have ignored the DVD-Video mode.
i use the udf/iso option in nero too because it was used in one of the guides on this site. does anyone know if dvd video is any different or better?
im trying to do this with nero can u guys tell me the iso settings for dvd? or can u just leave them as default, im want them to work on an unchiped xbox but they aint working it might just be the media cuz i know infinity works but i couldnt get hold of them
thanx guys:)
dvdrnewbie,
Not being familiar with an xbox I'd guess it is basically a PC? If so ISO would probably be ok but if you want to play the DVD in a standalone DVD player then you need the UDF filesystem. Most people select UDF/ISO. Make sure Joliet is unchecked - I don't know why, I've just read that many times !!
