Thread: VHS Transfers??

Thread
  1. I want to transfer my old VHS tapes to DVD. What is going to offer me the best quality to do this. A DVD burner for the computer or a Standalone DVD Recorder.

I didn't find out till recently about Standalone DVD recorders.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

BEST quality? If you want BEST quality and have the time, then capuring the RAW video to your PC and then using a high quality MPEG encoder is the way to go. I did it that way and was able to maintain good quality even at a 2.7mbps final data rate. (Meaning I could get about 200 minutes of video on a DVD)

This method does require scads of hard disk space though, so make sure you buff up before you attempt it.

    Regards,

    Savant
