after avi to mpg conversion i wanna keep black borders

i'm following these instructions - http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/91597.php

but the avi video i have is in widescreen format

the webpage above is for tv ratio format

i'm trying to burn my cd to have the same borders that all widescreen movies have

so when i'm watching it on my dvd player it will have the black border above and below the movie

i've tried several ways to do this but it always comes out to full screen when i watch it on my stand alone dvd player

i'm using divfix, virtualdub, and tmpeg

does anyone know how to fix this?

Use the Settings > Advanced > Video Arrange Method > Center (Custom Size).......you can use this to what you want.

To check it out before encoding go to > File Preview........
