Converting DAT file into MPEG

Hi, i tried to convert DAT file into MPEG but when I burn on DVD and run on TV the quality wasn't good. Is ther better way to do this?

Burning on dvd doesn't mean that the quality will improve, garbage in - garbage out. And please explain exactly what you are trying to do.

If you want dvd quality it needs to be a dvd rip

I've some movies & songs in DAT format.......to keep the Quality as same I want to convert in DVD...so I don't want garbage in and out Is there any way i keep the same quality.any software Once again thanks for ur resposne.
