  1. I'm working to convert my DivX collection over to VCD, and have met with some success, but there is still a problem. Many of my divx movies are in widescreen format, and when i convert them to VCD my DVD player shows the film in the top half of the screen.
Is there any way I can add a black band across the top so I can put the movie in the middle of the screen where it belongs?
    Regards,
    Randolp Carter

Use VirtualDub - select the 'resize' filter and tick the 'Expand frame and letterbox image' option.
Then set 'Frame height' to the desired size, leave the 'Frame Width' to the current video width.
This will insert the required blanks above and below the movie.
(You can then frameserve to your encoder).
