  1. Hi, i'm curious if anyone has had this problem.

I've used the VCD Header Trick on numerous occasions to get a specific DVD player to play my SVCDs. I've never had this happen before.

For some reason, on one particular disc, which is no longer than any others, when i do the header trick i get an .mpg file which shows up as much larger than the 80 AND 90 min boundary in Nero.

I have followed the same procedure as usual whihc included:
    1) simple de-multiplex the svcd
    2) simple multiplex with MPEG 1 VCD header.

why is this giving me a really long mpg? has anyone seen this before?

  2. Yep, I see it all the time.
It usually happens to me when I'm trying to fake a VCD from a one-cd SVCD. Something about the vbr, I don't know.

You can try to simple-multiplex to VCD non-standard. It produced, to me, a file approximately the same size, but I had a/v desync when I tried to play it on my standalone. Maybe you'll get more lucky...

I also tried to multiplex the mpeg2 video and the audio as VCD in bbmpeg, but the image kept "jumping" and them froze when played.

  3. see this is weird...

last week i did this with no problem... now this week i just tried it with the exact same svcd mpg file and this time it's giving me the superlong vcd which nero won't burn.

    i have question...

when doing the header trick is it neccesary to de-multiplex then multiplex? or is it sufficient to just run the file thourhg simple multiplex?

  4. ok, i think i have it sorted out...
it's working now. although i am still doing the same procedure.

here's my guess on what went wrong.

my source .mpg (svcd) file that i am using is mounted in a bin/cue using daemon tools. when i switched the mounting i did not unmount the old cd image, and i think that's what was screwing it up. i just unmounted the old file in dameon tools before mounting a new file and this time it worked. so my assumption is that my source file was screwy.

    thanks for that one reply...
    have a nice day everyone.
