My problem is that the sides of the wide screen format SVCD's that i create are cut off when i use my standalone dvd player (pioneer DV-C302D). I used the program DVD2SVCD with an aspect ratio of 16:9 using CCE as my encoder. If works perfectly on my computer (i use the power dvd program) yet...on the standalone the sides are cut off. I was told that the problem may be overscan....but i have no idea what overscan is or how to fix it. Any adive would be very much so appreciated.
    Thank you

other than re-encoding did you try different settings on your dvd player ?.

you could re-author it if it was a dvd to just re-set the aspect ratio .. but on a svcd i think you have to re-encode it as i dont know of any app that will re-set the ratio flag .. except mpegrepair , but its operation on this is flaky at best ..

you must, encode 16/9 (encoded as 4:3)
dont try anomorph, because this is not an SVCD specifikation, and not many dvd players can handle it correct.

in dvd2svcd you cannot, set the tv oversceen, so you have not doing any false settings here.

the oversceen, can be set in fitcd, with that you can manuelly change the avs script from dvd2svcd, for a perfect resizing.
i normalle set my tv oversceen to the value of 2, for my pal movies for my 4:3 TV.
on the pc monitor it looks like there are black boarders then, on the left and right side, but on the tv, its perfect, and so you have not waste any bitrate, for a thing(oversceen) that you cant see later on the tv.
