Lockup problems

Hopefully someone can help with the following problem:

Gigabyte motherboard
Win/TV Go capture card
AMD XP 1700+/Win 98 SE

Any programme I select to capture video, Premiere, Virtual Dub etc, lock up when going to try and set the capture settings. The whole computer freezes resulting in a reset. I have tried everything I can think of, new via drivers, latest wdm drivers etc, but have now run out of ideas.

More information that may help you.

The lockups only happen, the moment I select 24 bit colour from the video format box. I can select any resolution, but have to leave the colour depth on 16 bit.
