  1. Hi All,
Only new to this forum and from Australia, looking at buying a standalone Dvd writer. I already have a Pioneer A04 in comp system, and have been looking at Pioneer Dvr 7000 or Panasonic Dmr E20 for ease of use for family(very protective of the computer). Any feedback much appreciated on better dvd writer to buy.I like the dvd-r & dvd-rw option. Also anyone from Oz know of reliable online suppliers for either of these products in Oz.
I have read abit on Panasonic but haven't seen much on DVR 7000.
    Thanks everyone

Why would you want one when you already have a pioneer DVR-A04 DVD-RW drive in your Pc? Dos'ent It do everything that you need?

  3. Hi Star Warrior,
My Pc is my main workstation and it is becoming a bit of a hassle trying to capture programs from Sattelite decoder box etc to hard drive when I have work that I should be doing .Yes the pioneer A04 does everything I ask of it Ps2 ,dvds etc but it is a case of getting a second PC to do my work on or seperate dvd writer that is limited compared to the A04 but also I need to replace video recorder that is outdated big time .
    Thanx for the reply

Why haven't you looked in the "DVD Writers" section, where much has already been written about these two burners???

Very quickly I'll tell you that the Pioneer is a great unit, but when recording in a mode that creates discs that can be played on any player, you can only record two hours on one disc.

The Panasonic allows you to record 6 hours.
Panasonic also allows you to "pause" live TV, like a TIVO.

Pioneer has many more adjustments to the recorded video signal than the Panasonic.

Panasonic costs about three times less (at least in the US).
