    Hi,

I just downloaded and burned the DVD test files to an HP DVD+RW and played them on my Pioneer xxx343 DVD player.

    1. DVD, Dolby Digital Clip: Played just fine!

    2. 'VCD' clip: The audio played badly; the video didn't play at all (it tried but failed).

    3. 'SVCD' clip (Chicken Run): Played just fine except that it displayed as a 'perfect' square on the left edge of the TV.

Question 1: Is the square 'SVCD' format correct? Did I do something wrong (I'm just starting into DVD)? Or is it a quirk of the player?

Question 2: Can I assume that my player just won't play VCD formatted DVD stuff? (I'm going to try other players too.)

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks

    Allan

Have you tried playing the dvd with powerdvd or windvd(using dvd mode then, not open the vob files)? It should work perfect if not something is wrong.
