Any one try it? I did. I hate it. It messed up all my file extensions for media files. And it just didnt work right. Also I hear it will have built in copyright protection when it finally launches.

Haven't tried it yet, but unless you tell quicktime to change all extentions it will not touch anything except files it plays natively (ie. .mov .qt and a few others) of course this may have changed with the new one, but thats very unlike apple.

I've always said that apple is the only people who make a movie format and then give the competing OS a good player for it also... ever seen Media player for the mac? Its horrid... and reals players just suck all around.

So no, I havne't played with the QT6 beta yet, but I'm sure the final product will be quality.

I have it and love it. It's very nice and easy to use. I've been using Quicktime Pro for almost two years now and am still impressed with all the features it has.

I love Quicktime 6 also ... although I cant see myself utilizing its most hyped feature, MPEG-4 standard video. Until there are settop players supporting this format, I continue to be perplexed by the level of enthusiasm for it.

I sampled the mpeg-4 and I thought that VCD still looked better and had smaller file sizes.

Quicktime 6 is a superior Mpeg 4 player!!!!! Its encoding with QTPro sux. To achieve best iso-mpeg 4 quality for QT6 playback Encode with Divx 5.02, 2pass vbr to avi. Use Vdub to save the .wav and create a soundless .avi with. Use the tools from MPEG4IP open source project to create a AAC file and a MP4 video only file, mux those together optimize and hint. What you get is a streamable .mp4 file w/o the bs of windows media player or Real One player. The tools and guide can be found on www.everwicked.com and http://www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00/
