  1. I have some movies on my computer. The one is about 1.2GB and one of the others is about 634 MB. The 634mb one is fine b/c i can put it on 2 cd's and play it on my standalone DVD player, but the big one isn't. It would take 3 possibly 4 cd's to fit the whole thing. Thi differance between the 2 is that the bigger one is hight quality. I want to know if there is anyway to make it compressed, not loose quality, and still pay it on my DVD player. If it matters the movie is a .avi DIVX.

If you convert a movie it will almost certainly lose quality. Not much can be done about that. How much is lost depends on the target format. To play on your DVD player you must convert to VCD, SVCD or DVD format, in increasing levels of quality attainable. Which one you chose will depend on your DVD players capabilities and what equipment you have. Most DVD players can handle VCD and these can be burned onto standard CD's 74min CD = 74 mins of movie. Slightly less DVD players can handle SVCD, this is higher quality but also uses more space on the disc. An exact measure is not possible as it is variable bitrate but you should be able to get about 45mins af decent quality SVCD on 1 CD. For DVD, you need a DVD writer and compatible DVD player. I won't go int this here.

A 1.2 Gig divx movie is likeley to be high quality but also quite long so it is unlikley you can fit it onto 1 CD without significant quality loss.
