Fixable issue for Sony XV-C900 video processor??

I just got the Sony XV-C900 video processor. Bit of a beast but I wanted to see if this issue is common with it...



There's a solid black line along the left side. It seems its in the area the device does its corrections. See below for a full wipe to see the area:



Its not affecting the whole picture. I know its likely inside the 10% margin for CRT tv's and I could crop it but the left line is quite far in.

Help appreciated.

Edit: I should say, I'm handy with a screwdriver to tweak the hardware if necessary.

There may be adjustments you can make inside, like with the BVP and SignVideo units. I think you're on your own, as a search of the forum indicates that very few people here have ever mentioned using this device.

Bummer. Well, I took some pictures of the top board if that'll get anyone to help me identify what does what. There's 2 more boards under that has pots on too! Ill have a look at the service manual which I found.

Hi,

Got three of those, all came as defective and every one had problems in the power supply board due to overheating and/or insufficient heat sinking.
Hook your multimeter to the PS DC voltage out pin. Adjust, the power supply voltage trimmer to below and above the correct value (was it 12 or 9 volts?), while watching if the image problem goes away. Anyway, it usually is about dried-up caps. Leave the thing on for few hours then moisten your fingertip and touch the cap ends to find if any of them runs too hot to touch. Even if you find the fault somewhere on the signal boards and want to keep using theunit, add some heatsinking to the PS power transistors.
