Would also help if you posted what the error actually said.

i'm going to assume you have never even burned a DVD
because burning a folder to a disc is making a data disc not a DVD or blu-ray
i don't have a BR burner, but to make a DVD you have to use a program like ImgBurn to create an ISO disc file from the folder example My_Movie.iso
then you burn/write the ISO file to the disc
the BD process is the same, only the BD folder is a more complicated structure that has to be correct
then you create an iso 'disc image file' , then burn the iso file -
Imgburn will burn a video folder directly to your burning without needing to make an iso,you have to make sure you burn the right folders,BDMV and CERTIFICATE should be the only 2 folders and they need to be burned as udf 2.5,imgburn will warn you if you doing anything wrong and will correct it.

Baldrick, our Admin, already made this a separate thread.
And I am also curious what the exact text of the error is. Not much way to help otherwise.
And welcome to our forums. -
I use a laptop and an LG USB BD-Writer. It says there's no writable disc in there, when I know there is.Although I use Windows 10,my laptop itself is an old windows 7 Dell.It doesn't even have a builtin webcam. What should I do?Simply upgrade my PC?
-
Upgrade to a desktop computer, they are 2x more powerful for the same money and are easier to upgrade parts.

You can try read this http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN116383/EN - Optical Disk Drive is unable to write or burn data to a disc
-
I would never read anything from dell as they are the worst company for computer source and help.

Thank you for the information. What internal blu-ray drive do you recommend and what blu-ray iso and burning software?
-
Now,what burning software do you think will work best? All the ones I've seen so far only let you turn your blu-ray video into a folder or iso. They'll burn dvd format straight to a disc, but that's not blu-ray format.I've tried freemake video convertor, wondershare, etc. Still only burns dvd formats directly to a disc without iso.
-
Then build your BR iso or folder with your preferred software, and burn that iso or folder to your media with imgburn.
That said, it sounds like your problem is that your burner isn't recognizing your media. (In fact, it sounds like you have a DVD burner, not Blu Ray.) It's possible that once you get that sorted out your software will burn directly to disk. -

are you sure that Win7 Dell came with a BD burner ?
that would have been an expensive option
i had a win7 lenovo, $600 machine and NO BD only DVD/cd
even my current HP win 8.1 does not have a BD burn or play
if i ever want to burn BD i will need to purchase an external bd drive -
In his second post in this thread the OP said:
I use a laptop and an LG USB BD-Writer. -
opps..
well something is wrong somewhere, when a drive says NO media present
something is wrong with the drive or the disc
then again maybe its only a DVD burner ?
it would not be the first time somebody was confused about hardware
posting the model number of the LG external burner would be a help -
P888,please do not post the same question in another thread,i deleted that post, continue here.

What is the model number for the LG USB BD drive? Some Blu-ray drives are read-and-write for DVD but read-only for Blu-ray. More than one member here has bought such a drive by mistake, not realizing that it won't burn BD-R media.

http://www.manifest-tech.com/media_dvd/hard_coat.htm
But those coatings are applied during manufacture and not available to consumers AFAIK. -
So,you're saying there's no alternative product I could buy to help protect my dvd's better?
-
Nothing that I am aware of for consumer use. Maybe others here know of something.
