  1. Can it be done? What are the tools to do it? I have a Colossus 2 Video capture card that captures in TS files. I want to take the files and put them on a HDD DVR, using a 1394 Firewire, since the DVR has a digital input.

Technically it can be done, but the codecs in the TS may not be compatible with the AVI container. What container and codecs does the HDD DVR playback?

  3. It is a Magnavox with a 250G HD. It beats everything down to 480i. The only way to get 720p in is through the Firewire port, called DV in port3.

The Colossus 2 captures with h.264, so converting the audio and video to DV-AVI would be necessary. I'd use Virtualdub for this.
