As stated in the thread title, I'm looking for a good quality Blu-ray player for under $100 that will play Divx HD format and upscale regular DVD's to 1080p. I've read about a couple online, but I see people saying they freeze up a lot so if anyone on here could recommend one to me that works really great for under $100 if that even exists since you do get what you pay for, that would be greatly appreciated. And if by some SUPER VERY LUCKY chance, one for under $50 exists, that would be even better, but I'm probably dreaming with that one. LOL. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Divx HD is just a H.264 video with AAC audio, wrapped in a MKV. I would think anything would play it.

Why do you even deal with Divx?

I have had 2 Bluray players, LG and Sony. They both will play XVID but not DIVX. I think it's a licensing thing. I also have a Philips non bluray that will play both DIVX & XVID and upscales video to HD. Check out different player sites and download the instruction manual for their player if possible to find out what they will play. That's what I did in deciding what to buy.

DivX HD is more popular outside the USA. Hardly any 2014 and 2015 models sold in the USA are DiVX HD certified. Search here for Blu-Ray players: http://www.divx.com/en/devices/all

All the 2014 and 2015 DivX Certified models I could find for sale in the USA were from Pioneer and none are cheap. This is the least expensive: https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/Blu-ray-Disc/Elite-Blu-ray-Disc-Players/BDP-80FD

If you want cheap, here are refurbished older models from Philips:

    http://www.amazon.com/Philips-BDP3406-F7-Blu-Ray-Player/dp/B004ZP756S

[Edit] I found this as well. Note that it is only region free for DVD. The Blu-Ray region is locked to A. Also there the warranty is likely from the seller, not Philips, because this player is either a gray-market item or it was modified by the seller.
