Re: Sam LN46C630 & Uverse service

TV is capable of 1900 vert. resolution. Uverse box has option for 1080 which I chose on the Uverse Setup screen.

Yet local news broadcast is jaggy and muddy (which OTA on another TV is received as crisp 1080 resolution) .

Connection from Uverse box to TV is HDMI.

Surely I should see a crisp 1080 picture. What am I missing?

    Thanks.

Oh never mind I missed the model number.

[Edit]The Samsung LN46C630 is a 1080p TV, which means the horizontal resolution is 1920 and the vertical resolution is 1080. If you see jaggies with the Uverse box set to 1080i, what is missing is competent deinterlacing on the TV or competent upscaling on the receiver if the local news is broadcast on Uverse at something other than 1080i.

How do you know AT&T is using the OTA resolution? Last time I saw Uverse service, I was not impressed with the image quality. They are apparently heavily compressing the signals to save bandwidth.

In any case, if 1080 doesn't look good, try 720.
