My GF wanted to save music from this video:
http://youtu.be/EX1I2LI8Wc8
I took my trusty YTD and... I have to report that there is a bug - only 3h 15min downloaded from 10h video!
Same is happening using the http://en.savefrom.net website (webm format = fast download, no conversion)
So, who can tell me, how to download the whole file for audio extract? Thanks!
It get only 1 119.2 MB from the file, witch decoded (FFMpeg) report 10h, but actually only 3h 15min of data are present (that is consistent of the video size, witch is why I mention it as bug) ...
Don't you just *love* it, when a simple GF request find out so stupid limitation of some program(s)?!
PS:
ffmpeg -i x.webm -vn -f wav x.wav
Output #0, wav, to 'x.wav':
Metadata:
ISFT : Lavf55.0.100
Stream #0:0: Audio: pcm_s16le ([1][0][0][0] / 0x0001), 44100 Hz, stereo, s16, 1411 kb/s (default)

Excuse me, what application does support this command line argument to get the video in full lenght...?
...ah...
"It requires the Python interpreter (2.6, 2.7, or 3.2+)"
Witch I did not have. Do you get the 10h audio? Could you reup it somewhere like Mega, Hotfile or such...?"I believe that all the people who stand to profit by a war and who help provoke it should be shot on the first day it starts..." - Hemingway :) my config -
Maybe those downloaders are trying to decode file into WAV and recompress it after that and get to WAV files size limit. Try to use downloader that can download audio without recompression, like FlashGot or Youtube Video and Audio Downloader, both are addones for Firefox.
I just downloaded only audio, AAC 128kbs. Here is what I got:
General

If your player can't play DASH, just remux it without recompression to MP4/M4A with YAMB or FFMPEG.
P.S. Plays just fine with foobar2000 1.3.7 as it supports DASH from this version.Last edited by Detmek; 1st Feb 2015 at 08:53.

biezom - the windows executable ended up with: "System cannot run the choosen application"
So, no no no go. Not at all.
PS. 1.07 GBy of audio sounds suspiciously low, I'm not going to try the program, because that is obviously not a 10h audio, but rather a 3h one. Possibly wrong program - again. Besides the program does not work at all (on 32bit WinXP SP3 tested), so I cannot use it, even if it produce audio past 3h mark...
Detmek - and could you PLEASE reupload the audio somewhere? After you make sure that there IS audio, past the 3h mark, pls. Too many tries with 3h only, beware..."I believe that all the people who stand to profit by a war and who help provoke it should be shot on the first day it starts..." - Hemingway :) my config -
Yes, because from 1,1GBy webm file I got only 195min of audio.
webm file: 1 173 602 602 bytes
wav pcm 16bit: 6 364 662 095 bytes
...only 195 min... decoded with latest FFmpeg buildMake *sure* you can get audio past 195min... It might report the lenght correctly, but in WinAMP it plays up to 195 min and that it is. Same Lame encodes only 195 min into mp3, so... useless.

you have 195,53 minutes because format wav files size limit
if you convert in mp3 no problem
Code:ffmpeg -i z.webm -acodec libmp3lame -ab 256k output.mp3
if i convert in wav i have the same result

What the f*ck... Microsoft wav limitation 3h 15min? Come on, you gotta be kidding me. When someone design an audio format, it kinda should predict that it might be used to capture events longer that 3h and 15minutes...
But yea, that come from people who once claimed that 640k should be enought for everybody. Okay. Microsoft strikes again!
Set the:
ffmpeg -i x.webm -acodec libmp3lame -b:a 128k x.mp3
...and hoooray! 10h done and working, thank you guys very much!"I believe that all the people who stand to profit by a war and who help provoke it should be shot on the first day it starts..." - Hemingway :) my config -
Hi biezom ,
1) You are a speedy man !!!
2) you have 195,53 minutes because format wav files size limit if you convert in mp3 no problem
Thanks for this information .
3) ffmpeg -i z.webm -acodec libmp3lame -ab 256k output.mp3
Can you confirm that you got 256K with the mp3 file ?
Regards .JE SUIS CHARLIE !!! -
Hi biezom ,
Thanks for the replay .
Not doubt only wondering .
( Je ne faisais juste que me poser la question !!! )
Cheers .JE SUIS CHARLIE !!! -
@trodas, of course WAV has a file size limit. It's a 32bit format that was written over 25 years ago. For it to be usable for as much as it still is is testament to how valuable it still is. But there are limits. Back when the audio format was designed, the most common setting for WAV was 8bit mono 11kHz. 10 hours of that would only be 378MB, but I don't think that's the quality you'd like.
If you want uncompressed AND good quality AND greater than the 4GB limit that all uncompressed 32bit file formats are restricted to, you can easily use a 64bit format: WAV's successors are W64 and RF64. Or you can use CAF (Apple's AIFF successor), or FLAC or ALAC, etc. I just don't think those are going to be made available to you by YT, as their mission is not to provide you will large uncompressed files.

Thanks guys for the responses. Yes, WAV suxx, okay, I got it. 25 years? Well, okay then. Nevermind.
However I can confirm that the command line:
ffmpeg -i x.webm -acodec libmp3lame -b:a 128k x.mp3
...produce a 128k CBM mp3 result. Using 192k or 256k settings will produce the respective bitrates. Using -ab 256k result in variable bitrate mp3, max 256k bitrate. Hope this helps someone..."I believe that all the people who stand to profit by a war and who help provoke it should be shot on the first day it starts..." - Hemingway :) my config -
Or, you can just download original audio and avoid any recompression and WAV file size limit.
Today most players can play AAC audio and all software players can play Vorbis so you don't really need to recompress into higher bitrate mp3 as you won't gain any quality, you will just waste space.
And -ab 256k produces mp3 file with average bitrate of 256k. 256k is not maximum bitate.
